June 6, the fifth day of the fifth month on Chinese lunar calendar, is the Dragon Boat Festival-a traditional holiday in China.
 
People always held a series of activities to celebrate it. In Beijing, on June 4, Shunyi Olympic Rowing-canoeing Park will unveil its curtain of the 3rd Beijing Dragon Boat Festival, with lots of folk featured activities, such as dragon boat race, dragon dance, lion dance, and intangible heritage show and so on.
 
Dragon Boat Festival is always falling to us on the fifth day of the fifth month on Chinese lunar calendar.  It is a Chinese traditional festival to commemorate an ancient great patriot poet in Warring State Period (475-221 B.C.)- Quyuan, who drowned himself into the Miluo River. Then people began to throw rice dumplings wrapped with bamboo leaves into the river to avoid the fish consume Quyuan’s body. Then the rice dumplings becomes a traditional flavor on this day, called Zongzi today.
 
From 2008, this festival becomes the national official holiday. And all Chinese can enjoy a three -day holiday from June 4 to 6.
